"Ugh.. Seriously? This is so not cool." You murmured to yourself.

You were sitting outside Skaia Institute—your college campus—exasperated and exhausted from a day full of classes. Not only did you have a presentation today, but you also had two other tests as well. And it wasn't for your easy subjects, oh no, it was the two subjects you were struggling most with: math and biochemistry.

What made it even worse was that instead of driving to school; blasting your music and enjoying the little bit of peace you got, your mom had to come along that morning because she wanted to use your car. So you had to wait at the school for her to come get you.

You've been waiting for 3 hours now.

"UGH!! Seriously!!" You practically yelled. The urge to punch something was growing stronger and stronger.

"Um, excuse me?" You heard a voice from the side of you. You looked over to find a guy with a navy blue shirt that had a symbol that looked like waves. He has a dorky buck-toothed smile, ebony hair and a pair of square-framed glasses.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" He pointed to the bench.

"Oh, sure." You scooted over to make space for him on the bench. Great, now you have to deal with a dork in glasses.

"So how long have you been here waiting?" He asked you.

"Like three hours." You sighed.

"Oh man, that's brutal." He chuckled.

"You're telling me."

"Did you just finish your classes?" You asked.

"Oh, no, I finished them an hour ago. I've been waiting on my buddy Karkat to get here. He's taking a while I guess." You felt like you knew that name from somewhere.

"Karkat?"

"Karkat Vantas. He goes here as well." You thought about it a while then realized you did know him.

"Oh! He's in my biochemistry class!" You grinned.

"He's a real character isn't he? Must be fun having him in there." He laughed.

"Oh trust me, class just isn't the same without his loud mouth in there!" You both laughed.

'This guy's not that bad...' you thought.

"Oh, my name is John by the way. John Egbert." Your mouth dropped.

"THE John Egbert?!" You couldn't believe you were sitting next to the guy Karkat wouldn't shut up about.

"The one and only! I guess you heard about me from Karkat then. I heard he talks about me all the time." He grinned. You laughed awkwardly.

"He more or less trash talks you, John." You didn't have the courage to tell him that though.

"So what's your name?" John asked.

"Oh! My name is (Y/n)."

"That's a great name." He smiled. You blushed a little.

"Thank you."

You and John continued talking about different things you both liked as well as talking about all the goofy things Karkat does. You found out John was a huge Nicholas Cage fan and you were both hyped for a new game that was coming out in another few weeks. Needless to say, you both had a LOT in common.

Just as you were about to change the subject, you noticed a car driving up to where you both sat. It was your mom. You got up and faced John.

"Well, I guess that's my ride." You said, a little upset because you were actually enjoying your chat with him.

"Aww, alright." John frowned a little.

"Oh hey! Do you use Pesterchum? Here." John took out a piece of paper from his bag and wrote what you guessed was his handle on it.

"My handle is ectoBiologist. We should hang out some other time!" He smiled his dorky smile that you somehow grew to like.

"Sure!" You smiled brightly. You made your way into the car saying goodbye to John.

Your mom looked over at you and smiled.

"So, who was that?" You smiled a little.

"Just a new friend I made."

"Boyfriend?" Your mom elbowed you gently.

"Mom!" You squeaked.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" She laughed.

You stared out the window, watching the sun as it set beyond the high-rise buildings.

"It wouldn't be so bad being his girlfriend though..."

The thought brought a big smile to your face.

I had to wait outside my college campus for 3+ hours so I was like "YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M GONNA WRITE ABOUT MEETING THE EGDERP AT COLLEGE ON A SHITTY DAY."
So this is what I came up with. Kinda short if you ask me but eh.

I'm almost done part two of Promises. Almost. Might go up early tomorrow, later tonight, or later tomorrow night.
